"The Modern Manager"

After the amazing learning experience from the first lecture I was wondering what Dr. Mandi’s will bring this time in his “Magical Pitara”. This time it was no surprise to sit in the Desi Style. So finally the “Pitara” was opened & Sir stared throwing the wooden cuboids towards the students.
 Task 1:
Sir asked the students to build a Tower using the wooden cuboids in a single column as high as possible with no restrictions. He asked students to bid for the number of blocks that could be arranged to form a tower. After many proposals one student agreed to form a tower having a minimum of 17 blocks. So the guy started building the tower cautiously & surpassed his target & made a tower using 22 Cuboids.

Task 2:
Sir again asked the students to build a Tower using the wooden cuboids but with the condition that one will be blindfolded & have to use his left hand only. One can take the help of his other two friends for guidance to place the block. Bidding started but this time everyone was playing a safe game. No one was ready for Sir’s challenge of making a tower using more than 22 blocks. Finally three students accepted the challenge. They were given designation of Worker, Manager & CEO. Worker will do the task with the guidance of   Manager. CEO will have to supervise. Nobody was expecting them to cross the number above 22. Surprisingly the team breaks the target by making a tower of 27 blocks.

Learning:
1.       When Sir asked in Task 1 to bid for number of blocks the students bided for 18-20 blocks. But when the guy actually built the tower he was able to handle 22 blocks. So one should not underestimate oneself. One should always aim high.
2.       In the Task 2 when the participant was blindfolded everybody lowered their target. But the blindfolded person was able to manage 27 blocks. With this experiment Sir taught us the difference between Old Management Vs New Management. In conventional management system most of the decisions are taken by working staff which actually reduces their efficiency because they could not focus on their work. In this system the whole set of operation are done by a single person. In New Management system takes out the power of decision making from working staff. The top management takes all the decisions enabling the working staff to focus on their work. In this system the work is divided as per the following diagram.

So the working staff only focuses on the elements of the work.

Parameter
Old Management
New Management
Work
Ambiguous
Crystal Clear
Skill
Skillful
Deskill
Decision Making
Working Hand
Top Management
Productivity
Low
High

At the end concluding that if you want to became a good manager follow the New management system & give rewards & recognition to the working staff.
